SuperPower Inc. of Schenectady, NY is a world leading developer and manufacturer of second-generation high temperature superconducting (2G HTS) wire that provides enormous advantages in energy efficiency and power density over copper-based systems for applications in energy and medical technologies, transportation, military, aerospace, science and research. SuperPower 2G HTS wire is the enabling component for an ARPA-E funded program to develop a Superconducting Magnetic Energy Storage (SMES) system that is expected to provide improved storage capability for energy generated by renewables such as wind and solar farms. SuperPower provides long lengths of robust and high performance wire to a global customer base and continues to enhance wire performance, bring down prices and develop custom wire configurations based on customer needs. SuperPower also offers 2G HTS coils designed and built to customer specifications.
