Bringing you the latest updates from the

Battery and Energy Storage Industry

November 29, 2010

We had a very successful presence at Advanced Energy 2010 in New York City. In addition to a busy NY-BEST booth, 23 NY-BEST members exhibited, seven panel sessions were held on battery and energy storage anchored by 12 NY-BEST members, and attendees were able to see a new fuel cell powered forklift from Raymond Corporation. We are in the process of following up with new and prospective members and will welcome them in the next issue. Pictures from the conference can be found at: http://www.ny-best.org/gallery/advanced-energy-conference-2010-photos.

We also have a great new brochure promoting the benefits of NY-BEST membership. Feel free to forward this brochure to any partners that may be interested in joining. Thank you to the many NY-BEST members who provided testimonials for the brochure and other collateral materials. The link to the brochure can be found here: http://www.ny-best.org/sites/default/files/resources/NY-BEST_Membership_...

From Farm to Market Without Using Roads

Hunts Point, the cooperative market that handles the bulk of produce and other agricultural items heading into New York City, gets 14,600 truck deliveries each day - 97% by truck. Under this proposal, hybrid refrigerated trailers could operate by battery, be filled by farmers in their fields, driven to the Port of Albany, and loaded onto barges. Customized Energy Solutions is working on a plan to use batteries produced by Altair Nanotechnologies to power the trailers while they're on the 17-hour barge trip down the Hudson. NYSERDA provided Customized Energy with an $85,000 award to study the feasibility.
