PACIFIC NORTHWEST NATIONAL LABORATORY (PNNL) is a U.S. Department of Energy multi-program laboratory located in Richland, Wash. Battelle, of Columbus, Ohio, has operated PNNL for the federal government continuously since 1965. PNNL conducts $1 billion annually in research and development for government and industrial clients. In addition to the main campus in Richland, associated facilities include the Marine Sciences Laboratory in Sequim, Wash., and offices in Seattle, Wash., Portland, Ore., and Washington, D.C. Approximately 4,400 scientists, engineers and other professionals are employed at PNNL.
