Center Director Announcement
The New York Battery & Energy Storage Technology Consortium (NY-BEST), together with our partner, DNV GL, has been working hard over the past several months on the new BEST Test and Commercialization Center in Rochester, New York, and we have some important updates to share with you.
Announcing our New Center Director!
First, we’re proud to announce that a Center Director, James DeJager, has been hired to lead the Center’s operations on behalf of DNV GL. Mr. DeJager has extensive expertise in battery technology, having recently served as the Technical Director and Commercialization Manager at the Eastman Kodak Company in Rochester, New York. A Rochester native, Mr. DeJager’s experience includes 33 years at Eastman Kodak where he worked in new product and technology development, product commercialization, supplier and business development, material engineering, component and manufacturing engineering. He is also a 20-year member of, and active participant in, the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) C18 Battery Group and has in-depth knowledge of battery testing and standards work. Mr. DeJager holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the Simon School at the University of Rochester and a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from the University of Notre Dame.
Paul Leufkens, Director of Testing Inspection and Certification for DNV GL said, “In choosing a Director to lead the BEST Test and Commercialization Center’s operations, we sought an individual with technical experience in the battery and energy storage field, as well as someone with a reputation for finding unique and innovation solutions to meet customer needs.
