MESA: Open Standards for Energy Storage

The MESA Standards Alliance publishes open, non-proprietary specifications and information models that utilities, software developers and hardware manufacturers use to achieve interoperability among grid-scale energy storage components, as well as between utility control centers and energy storage systems. They are currently developing two sets of specifications; the MESA-ESS which provides a standard framework for utility-scale energy storage system (ESS) data exchanges and the MESA-Device/SunSpec Energy Storage Model which addresses how energy storage components within an energy storage system communicate with each other and other operational components.
